USPS Going Down Hill

I saw a disturbing post today on Facebook. My friend from high school, Sara Koropchak posted a story about her experience with the United States Post Office. Her story makes me sad because it just proves that eventually, the post office will go away. And with stories like Sara's, it may happen sooner than later.

Sara was moving and shipped 10 boxes of books on December 7, 2011. It is now almost the end of February and she still hasn't received all her books. Sara was tracking all her packages and the USPS managed to loose 20% of her packages. One box disappeared. Another was destroyed because someone (not Sara) listed the books as perishable goods. There is no excuse for that.  Sara said the call center is horrible. That shouldn't be a surprise considering the USPS has made such a mess of this.

What makes this sad is that this probably happens all the time. Someone's belongings--life possessions  are entrusted with the USPS and just disappear. Those are people's memories. I think the USPS has some explaining to do. This shouldn't happen to anyone. I'll think twice before shipping my belongings with the USPS. Maybe you should too.
